VfL Wolfsburg attacking midfielder Anton Donkor has signed a second loan deal with Everton.

The Toffees announced on Friday that the 19-year-old will return to Goodison Park on loan for the first half of the 2017-18 season.

Donkor initially joined the Premier League club on loan in January this year, but only managed to make two appearances for the Under-23s squad before he was struck with an ankle injury.

The teenager will now have a second shot with the development squad at the beginning of the 2017/18 season following his recovery form his malleolar problem.

Everton confirmed the return of the German on their official Twitter account, and stated that the Wolfsburg reserve star would be at the club until January 2018.

Donkor progressed through the Wolfsburg academy before signing with the club’s reserve team in 2016 on a four-year-deal.

The teenager, who plays predominantly on the left side of midfield, has already begun pre-season training with coach David Unsworth and the rest of the Under-23 squad at the club’s Finch Farm training complex.

Donkor was quoted on the Toffees’ official website and said he was delighted to have another chance with the Blues: “I’m looking forward to pre-season to show my teammates and the fans that it was the right decision for the Club to re-sign me,” he said. “I’m very proud to be here and I want to show my best performances.”

The Germany Under-20 international is the club’s sixth signing of the transfer window, after boss Ronald Koeman managed to secure Michael Keane, Jordan Pickford, Sandro Ramirez, Henry Onyekuru, and Davy Klaassen at the beginning of the summer.
