TalkSPORT pundit Adrian Clarke has back new Everton signing Davy Klaassen to make a huge impact in the Premier League next season.

Playmaker Klaassen is one of six senior arrivals at Goodison Park this summer in what has been an extensive recruitment drive costing over £100million.

The Holland international has been signed for £24million from Ajax to provide a greater goal threat from across the pitch for Everton and compensate for the absence of Romelu Lukaku, who scored 25 league goals last season before joining Manchester United.

“The introduction of Klaassen makes perfect sense,” Clarke wrote on the official Premier League website. “Klaassen has a natural instinct inside the box and times his forward bursts expertly.

“In all competitions last season, Klaassen scored 20 times. He is a clinical finisher with fabulous accuracy.”

Klaassen has made the move to the English top flight after graduating from the world-famous Ajax academy to become a key player for club and country.

He accumulated 180 appearances for the 1995 Champions League winners, which yielded 55 goals and 38 assists, and has also represented the Holland national team on 14 occasions

Aged, 24 he has signed a five-year contract with Everton and is expected to slot straight into Ronald Koeman’s team for the new season.

“The Premier League will be a big step up for Klaassen, so success is not guaranteed,” warned Clarke. “But his intelligence and endeavour should make him a popular figure on Merseyside.

“His key strength, though, is goals. In this post-Lukaku era, the Toffees will need him to hit the ground running.”

The comments from former Arsenal player Clarke come after he controversially claimed on TalkSPORT this week that Olivier Giroud is too good to play for the Merseysiders.
