Chelsea target Rodriguez

Premier League champions Chelsea have entered the race to sign Real Madrid attacking midfielder James Rodriguez, according to Don Balon.

This follows up from the story in Spanish publication Diario Gol which reported that Manchester United had agreed personal terms with the 25-year-old.

Don Balon reports that Chelsea are ready to splash the cash and spend around £52million in order to acquire the services of the Colombian this summer.

The report also claims that French outfit Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in signing James in the transfer window.

It is said that Madrid president Florentino Perez is keen on completing a deal which could see the attacking midfielder move to London but the player himself is reportedly desperate to secure a transfer to Manchester next season.

This is not the only midfielder who is being linked with a move to Stamford Bridge this summer as the Sun recently reported that AS Monaco enforcer Tiemoue Bakayoko has underdone a medical at Chelsea ahead of a potential summer transfer.

James has been unable to make the desired impact since moving to the Bernabeu following his dazzling performances in the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil.

The Colombian failed to secure a regular place in the Madrid starting lineup last season as he only made a total of 13 La Liga starts.

James currently has three years remaining on his contract with Madrid.
