Chelsea are prepared to splash the cash this summer and spend around £70million in order to land Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, according to AS.

The Spanish newspaper claims that the Premier League champions have turned their attention on the 23-year-old after rivals Manchester United decided to pull out of the race following the Saturday signing of striker Romelu Lukaku from Everton.

The report claims that the Blues will offer the La Liga giants around £70million including add-ons for the Spaniard in the next few days.

It is said that the striker would not have any issues agreeing personal terms with the West London club who are set to offer him a contract around four or five years which would see him increase his current yearly salary of £5million at Madrid.

AS reports that the Spanish giants are seeking to receive an offer closer to £80million for Morata as Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane does not want to lose the striker this summer, but negotiations are set to be more flexible this time around compared to the earlier talks with United.

It is reported that the Spain international might not be involved with the Madrid’s pre-season tour to the US should discussions with both clubs reach an advanced stage later this week.

Morata was unable to become a regular starter at the Bernabeu last season but he still managed to contribute with 20 goals and six assists in all competitions.

The Spaniard has enjoyed a successful spell in the Spanish capital, winning two La Liga titles and two Champions League trophies at Madrid.

The striker’s current contract at the Bernabeu runs out in 2021.
