Chelsea are weighing up a sensational move for Manchester City ace Sergio Aguero, according to Sky Sports News.

The broadcaster claimed on its transfer live blog on Monday (12.55pm) that the Blues have “serious and strong interest” in the 29-year-old striker.

It is said the west London club are in the hunt for a new front man to replace Diego Costa, who is not in Chelsea manager Antonio Conte’s plans for the 2017-18 campaign.

Should this move come to fruition it would come as a real shock given Aguero’s obvious importance to City, and the rivalry between the two Premier League giants.

The Argentine striker was one of the Citizen’s top performers last term, scoring 33 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions, as well as providing six assists.

He arrived at the Etihad from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2011 in a £30million switch, and he has since played 253 league and cup games for the club, in which he has been a certified goal machine.

His 253 appearances have yielded 169 goals, 122 of which have come in the Premier League.

During his six season spell in Manchester he has helped City win two Premier League titles and two League Cups.

Aguero has been capped by Argentina on 82 occasions and he has scored 33 goals on the international stage.
