La Liga giants Barcelona have decided not to pursue Arsenal full-back Hector Bellerin this summer, according to Sport.

The Barcelona-based newspaper claims that the club’s new boss Ernesto Valverde recently held discussions with the hierarchy at the Camp Nou and they came to the conclusion to not splash the cash and spend around £35million to land the 22-year-old.

This follows up from the story in the Mirror which reported that Arsenal will not allow the full-back to leave the club for anything less than £35million.

The report claims that apart from the economic demands of the potential deal, the club believe that the Spaniard does not possess the required technical and physical ability to succeed at Barcelona.

This will come as a massive relief to Arsenal fans as the Spaniard has been heavily linked with a move back to his native country throughout the entire summer.

The Evening Standard recently reported that Bellerin was given an extended break from the pre-season tour following his involvement in the Under-21 European Championships with the Spain national team, but the news in Spain suggests that he will be involved with the Arsenal first-team this summer.

The Spaniard’s spell at the Emirates Stadium looks set to continue and he still has the potential to be a huge asset for the club in the upcoming campaign.

Bellerin has enjoyed relative success during his six-year stint in North London, picking up two FA Cup trophies in the process.

The defender currently has six years remaining on his current contract at Arsenal.
