Arsenal defender Mathieu Debuchy’s move to Ligue 1 outfit Nice has collapsed, according to a report in RMC Sport.

The French media outlet revealed on their live transfer feed [Monday 17th July, 17.35] that the 31-year-old would not be moving to Nice this summer.

RMC Sport claim that Nice wanted to sign Debuchy when he dropped down in Arsene Wenger’s pecking order at Arsenal, but now the Ligue 1 side have decided to turn their attention elsewhere.

It is said that the French outfit have chosen to pursue Christophe Jallet, who has just been released by Olympique Lyonnais, instead of the Gunners’ right-back.

The Arsenal defender moved to the Emirates in 2014 from Newcastle for close to £13 million, but has suffered a number of injuries over the past three seasons.

After suffering from seven different injuries, including a bad ruptured ankle band, the right-back lost his spot in the backline.

Hector Bellerin has since grown within the first-team squad making it even harder for Debuchy to find his feet.

The French right-back was also left out of the squad which jetted off on Arsenal’s pre-season tour of Australia and China, which further suggested a departure from the Emirates this summer.

The injury-prone defender has a further two years remaining at the north London club as his contract expires in 2019.
