Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to criticise their club for allowing Dan Crowley to join Willem II.

The 19-year-old attacking midfielder has put pen-to-paper on a contract which ties him to the Eredivisie club until the summer of 2020.

Arsenal confirmed Crowley’s departure on their official website and official Twitter account on Monday, and Willem confirmed his arrival shortly after on their own website and Twitter account.

Crowley leaves Arsenal after failing to make a single first team appearance for the club since joining from Aston Villa in the summer of 2014.

The 19-year-old spent the latter half of the 2016-17 campaign on loan in the Netherlands at Go Ahead Eagles, where he impressed.

He made 16 appearances across all competitions for the Dutch outfit, which yielded two goals.

The Emirates faithful were unhappy to see Crowley go and they were quick to criticise their club for letting yet another young talent leave the club.

Crowley has spent time on loan at Barnsley and Oxford United during his spell in north London, but his efforts never earned him a call-up to the Gunners’ senior squad.

He has been capped by England Under-21s on four occasions, and he is able to play anywhere across the front three.
