Chelsea are keen on signing Juventus defender Alex Sandro this summer and would be better served ditching that plan to focus on Southampton ace Ryan Bertrand.

The Daily Mirror claim that the Blues are willing to spend another £150million in the window to improve their squad and left-back Sandro has emerged as a major target.

It is understood that Italian giants Juventus want more than £60million for the 26-year-old and that the player is currently refusing to sign a new contract.

Brazil international Sandro is an exciting talent and would be a big addition at Stamford Bridge, but the Blues should be chasing left-back Bertrand, instead.

Sandro has never played in the Premier League before and would be a major risk if he were to complete a £60million-plus deal, which is far too excessive for a defender.

Antonio Conte currently has Marcos Alonso as his first-choice left wing-back ahead of the new campaign and understudy Kennedy is not good enough to start the season as his back-up.

Chelsea are going to need a formidable squad if they are to compete in both domestic and European competitions, meaning their spending spree should continue.

Bertrand would be the ideal candidate to boost the Chelsea squad and he is a player that previously spent 10 years with the Londoners between 2005-2015.

The attack-minded full-back helped them win a Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup, which left many fans upset when he departed for Southampton in 2015.

The Blues should bring him back to provide competition for Alonso on the left flank and the pair are both capable starters.

He is surely going to cost a lot less than target Sandro and it would allow Chelsea to invest elsewhere.

The Evening Standard have reported that Chelsea are interested in a potential deal for Bertrand and Conte should make him a priority ahead of the new campaign.
