Tottenham youngster Shayon Harrison may still have a big impact to make in the first team in the upcoming campaign despite being left out of the club’s pre-season tour of America.

The 20-year-old was not one of the youngsters included in Spurs’ squad for the tour and it appeared that he may have to wait a little longer before making a senior breakthrough.

However, he has knuckled down since the disappointment and scored eight goals in recent weeks for the Under-23s side.

The young striker has shown great character and may have even done enough to alert the club’s senior hierarchy of his performances.

Mauricio Pochettino has frequently shown a willingness to promote youth and fans will be excited to see how the latest academy star is to make a breakthrough, with Harry Kane and Harry Winks the perfect role models.

Harrison could have the potential to be the next rising star and the striker should be boosted by the possibility of featuring in the senior squad.

The north London club currently have Harry Kane and Vincent Janssen as their senior options, who are both unlikely to be overtaken anytime soon by the youngster.

However, they don’t have many more options beyond the duo and there could be a real chance for Harrison to try stake his place as an option if he avoids being sent out on loan.

Harrison spent the second half of last season on loan at League Two club Yeovil and managed one goal in his 14 appearances.

He has shown that he can be prolific at youth level for Spurs and may be worth a gamble by Pochettino.

Spurs are set for another season of busy fixtures due to European and domestic competitions, meaning at some point a third striker is likely to be used and Harrison could be a good outside bet.
