Four players who could join Chelsea this summer

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte’s frustrations over the lack of signings this summer appear to have grown more intense over the past week.

However, Chelsea’s most recent signing of Roma centre-back Antonio Rudiger on Sunday is set to kickstart the club’s transfer window.

Football London report there could be a transfer blitz of arrivals at Stamford Bridge over the coming weeks.

The media outlet claim that the Chelsea boss is expected to make at least three more signings, but name four names who are currently in the mix to join the club.

So which players could accompany new signings Rudiger and former Manchester City goalkeeper Willy Caballero at Chelsea this summer?

The Italian manager will be hoping to strengthen his squad as much as he can in order to confound the matchbook odds and retain the Premier League title after seeing six of his players, including captain John Terry, make a departure from the club so far this summer.

This is Futbol analyses the four players who could be joining the Chelsea squad, including a La Liga star who has been strongly linked with a Premier League title rival:

Tiemoue Bakayoko – Defensive midfielder

Bakayoko has been strongly linked with Chelsea over the summer and it the most likely name to be announced as the next Blues signing. Football.London state that the 22-year-old is expected to be announced as Antonio Conte’s newest recruit after he completes a medical. The Frenchman had an incredible season with Monaco during the 2016/17 campaign, and helped the Ligue 1 outfit win the title for the first time in a staggering 17 years. The midfielder was expected to join the Chelsea squad in place of Nemanja Matic, who looked close to a move to Manchester United, but with the deal appearing to be on hold, it leaves a question mark over where the France international would slot into the squad.

Alex Sandro – Left-back

Juventus defender Alex Sandro looks like another potential addition to the Chelsea team during the transfer window as Football.London has revealed that Antonio Conte is hopeful of a breakthrough in securing a deal with the 26-year-old. The Serie A full-back would provide the strength in defence which Chelsea so sorely need after losing legend John Terry as a free agent, in addition to Nathan Ake who transferred to Bournemouth at the end of June. Sandro made a total of 43 appearances for the Italian club and helped his side to lift the Serie A trophy for a record-breaking sixth consecutive year. The Brazilian’s winning ambition would help Chelsea retain their Premier League title, which is exactly what Conte will be looking for.

Andrea Belotti – Centre-forward

After Chelsea’s grasp on a Romelu Lukaku deal slipped firmly away, the Premier League winners will need to focus on recruiting a proven centre-forward. Football.London named Belotti as an alternative to Lukaku owing to his impressive form last season for Serie A outfit Torino. The 23-year-old netted 28 goals during his 38 appearances throughout all competitions last season and would undoubtably provide the goals which Chelsea will desperately need if they are hoping to hold on to their Premier League title. However, if Conte is to pursue the Torino star, then the boss will have to be prepared to pay the hefty price tag as Belotti could set the club back almost £90 million.

Alvaro Morata – Centre-forward

With Antonio Conte facing the possibility of Michy Batshuayi being the boss’ first choice forward, it’s imperative that he finds an alternative. Football.London has revealed that Chelsea have their eye on Alvaro Morata, which could see the London club hijack Manchester United’s deal for the La Liga star. United have been linked with the 24-year-old throughout the transfer window, but Conte’s now looks to swoop on the Real Madrid striker which could be payback for Jose Mourinho after he snatched the Lukaku deal. Morata had an incredible debut season with the La Liga giants after he moved from Juventus last summer in a deal worth over £25 million. The Spaniard secured 20 goals during his 43 appearances throughout the season which helped his club clinch the La Liga title.
