Chelsea secure Mazzotta signing

|

Chelsea have brought in Italian scout and coach Davide Mazzotta to work alongside Antonio Conte following the departure of former assistant coach Steve Holland, according to the Telegraph.

The newspaper claim on their website that the Blues have hired the Italian as a scout to analyse the opposition and work on their video analysis, rather than as a direct replacement as assistant coach.

It is said to be a similar role to that he did while working as a key member of Antonio Conte’s Italy squad during his stint as manager of the national team.

Now he has been given the chance to reunite with the Premier League winning boss for a second time, having spent time together during their playing days at Lecce.

Mazzotta also worked as an U17 coach at the Italian side, but will firmly be on scouting duty during his time at Stamford Bridge.

The move is also said to be a way of appeasing Conte after he was reportedly frustrated with the club’s actions in this summer’s transfer market.

The Telegraph claim that there was tension between him and the Chelsea board following their inability to prevent Manchester United from hijacking their move for Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku

He is also reported to have held concerns over the delays of the transfers for Tiemoue Bakayoko and Antonio Rudiger, but those are now said to be close to completion.
