Aston Villa owner Tony Xia has taken a hilarious swipe at Sevilla after a breakdown in Jordan Amavi’s transfer to the La Liga club.

Media outlet Diario de Sevilla has reported that the French left-back had failed his medical with European giants Sevilla after they confirmed on their official Twitter account that they had agreed a fee with Villa.

However the breakdown in Amavi’s transfer hasn’t appeared to have gone down well with Xia, who confirmed that the player had undergone a medical but feels that it was “unfair” that he failed it.

Sky Sports has since reported on their official Twitter account that Sevilla have agreed a fee to sign Manchester City winger Nolito, and that has sparked a hilarious response from Xia, who is clearly still reeling about Amavi’s failed deal.

“Well, Nolito prepared to be claimed medical failure,” he joked on his personal Twitter account on Sunday evening.

Amavi was in poor form for Aston Villa last season and has struggled to get back to his old self after suffering with a serious knee injury.

The Mirror claimed on their live transfer blog on Sunday [00:52am] that Liverpool were lining up a surprising move for the 23-year-old, despite what happened with his proposed move to Sevilla.

The report says that the Merseysiders are looking to sign the former Nice defender up on temporary terms so they can evaluate his condition properly before agreeing a permanent transfer.
