Bolton Wanderers manager Phil Parkinson has emerged as the latest candidate to be linked with the vacant managerial post at Leeds United – but fans don’t want him.

The Daily Mail claim that Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani has been alerted to the fine work of the Bolton chief in earning promotion to the Championship, despite being under such tight financial restrictions.

Leeds are on the hunt to appoint a new manager after Garry Monk resigned from his post at Elland Road at the end of May, following just one year in charge at the club.

The Yorkshire-based side are currently interviewing candidates for the role, but after several big-name managers were ruled out of contention, Parkinson has emerged as a later contender.

However, Leeds fans are not convinced that Parkinson is the right man to pick-up where Monk left-off, and lead them to the Premier League next season.

Parkinson was appointed manager at Bolton only last summer following their relegation to League One, but led them back into the English second-tier at the first attempt.

His recent arrival at the Macron Stadium, however, means Bolton will demand compensation from Leeds should they submit a formal approach for the 49-year-old.

He had earlier impressed as manager of Bradford City, masterminding their run to the League Cup Final in 2013, having also won the League Two play-offs that same season.
