Former striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is the latest name linked with the Leeds United managerial vacancy, but fans would rather they looked elsewhere.

The Mirror claim that the Championship club have added the 45-year-old to their managerial shortlist, as they continue their hunt for a successor to the departed Garry Monk at Elland Road.

Hasselbaink enjoyed a fine two-year spell as a Leeds United player between 1997 and 1999, scoring 42 goals from 87 appearances in all competitions, but could be set for a dramatic return as manager.

Leeds were left rocked by the resignation of Monk during the final week of May, but have yet to identify an outright candidate to fill the void at the Yorkshire-club, with Hasselbaink the latest name thrown into the ring.

But Leeds fans, who are growing frustrated at the lack of movement on the managerial front, are strongly against a move for Hasselbaink as their next boss due to his lack of experience.

The Mirror also report that Hasselbaink was on the Leeds radar before Monk was appointed as manager, with former owner Massimo Cellino keen to hold talks with the retired goalscorer.

However, the Dutchman is believed to have rejected Cellino’s offer, although current chief Andrea Radrizzani is considering re-opening talks.

Radrizzani had previously revealed on Twitter that Leeds were set to interview candidates for the managerial this week, but with Hasselbaink joining the race, it appears as though they are no closer to ending their pursuit for a new chief.
