Felix Wiedwald is set to be announced as Leeds United’s second senior summer signing on Friday, according to a reliable journalist.

Yorkshire Evening Post correspondent Phil Hay made the revelation on Twitter on Friday morning in an update on the club’s plans to continue their squad overhaul.

Asked by a Leeds supporter if the club would announce the signing of Wiedwald from Werdern Bremen or Samuel Saiz from Huesca, Hay replied on his personal Twitter account that the German goalkeeper is “likely to be confirmed”.

The 27-year-old is set to be announced exactly a week after Mateusz Klich was signed from FC Twente for a reported fee of £1.5million.

It has been reported that Wiedwald has undergone a medical after flying into England on Thursday and the finishing touches are being put to a deal worth around £500,000.

He is in line to join a club that already has three goalkeepers in established number one Rob Green, his deputy Marco Silvestri and youngster Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

The Yorkshire Evening Post reported on Friday that Leeds could sign up to 10 new players this summer, with Wiedwald and Saiz set to follow Klich through the Elland Road entrance door.

The incomings will include 2016-17 loanees Hadi Sacko and Pontus Jansson, who have agreed to accept permanent contracts after making a big impact under Monk..

New manager Thomas Christiansen is radically overhauling the squad that finished seventh last season under his predecessor Garry Monk, who quit to join Middlesbrough.
