Rangers have seen a second approach rebuffed for Hearts winger Jamie Walker, according to the Edinburgh Evening News.

The newspaper claim that the Scottish club have submitted an improved offer worth £600,000 for the services of the 23-year-old this summer, after failing with an earlier proposal.

An earlier report from the same source had claimed that Rangers had seen a £500,000 bid rejected by Hearts, but Rangers remain keen to sign him and have returned with an improved offer.

But Pedro Caixinha’s latest attempts to land the young attacker have been emphatically rejected by their Scottish Premiership rivals, who are looking for a seven-figure fee before they will be willing to sell.

Hearts had wanted Rangers to at least double their money when dismissing their first offer, but the club have not done themselves any favours by returning with an offer of just £100,000 more.

Walker was in red hot form for Hearts during the 2016-17 season, where he contributed 15 goals and seven assists from 43 appearances in all competitions.

However, he has informed the club that has does not intend to renew his current deal at Tynecastle, which has one year left to run, which has forced the club to reluctantly listen to offers.

Caixinha has already added five new players to his first-team squad this summer, but is determined to further strengthen his attacking resources with a deal for one of the top-flight’s most prolific goalscoring wingers.
