Manager Rafa Benitez has made eight senior Newcastle players available for transfer as he plans to build a squad ready for the Premier League, according to the Chronicle.

The local north east outlet details that a host of first-team squad members have been  put up for sale at the right price with Henri Saivet, Massadio Haidara, Emmanuel Riviere, Siem De Jong and Grant Hanley all able to leave.

Meanwhile, the likes of Daryl Murphy, Jack Colback and Achraf Lazaar, who all played a part in Newcastle’s Championship winning campaign are also said to be “up for grabs” with Benitez not letting sentimentality get in the way of his decisions.

The likes of Saivet, Haidara, Riviere, De Jong and Colback were all at the club before Benitez took charge in March 2016.

However, he did bring each of Hanley, Lazaar and Murphy to the club last summer from Blackburn, Palermo and Ipswich respectively with their costs totalling a big £12million.

The former Liverpool, Real Madrid and Chelsea boss is likely to be looking to build cash up for his own summer business as he aims to make sure the Magpies don’t suffer the same fate as they did in 2016.
