Aston Villa are eyeing a summer swoop for Fleetwood Town defender Amari’i Bell, according to a Blackpool Gazette report.

The newspaper claims Norwich City and Birmingham City are also interested in the 23-year-old, while West Ham and Crystal Palace were keen on him in January.

It is said the left-back was scouted by Premier League and Championship clubs throughout the 2016/17 campaign, and that he could only be taken away from Highbury for a seven-figure fee this summer.

Bell was a mainstay in Fleetwood’s back line this term, making 44 League One appearances and providing six assists.

The 23-year-old was used by manager Uwe Rosler as a left-back in a back four, and as a wing-back in a 3-4-3 formation.

He arrived at Highbury in the summer of 2015 after being released by Birmingham, and he has since made the left-back spot his own, playing more than 100 league and cup games for the club.

Villa manager Steve Bruce is looking to overhaul his squad this summer after a disappointing campaign which saw his side finish 13th in the Championship.

The Sun have previously reported that the Birmingham giants were eyeing a move for Barnsley midfielder Josh Scowen, who is available on a free transfer this summer after rejecting a deal at his current club.
