Andy Halliday set to leave Rangers this summer

|

Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha has informed midfielder Andy Halliday that he is surplus to requirements at the club for the upcoming campaign, according to the Scottish Sun.

The newspaper claims that the 25-year-old has been told that he can leave the SPL side on loan and it is understood that the midfielder has been ordered to train with the Under-20 squad when the team report back to training on Monday morning.

The report claims that Halliday has attempted to impress the Portuguese manager during the pre-season training sessions but the decision to allow the midfielder to leave Ibrox has already been made.

The Sun also reports that a number of clubs have been alerted of the midfielder’s situation at Rangers and many are believed to be interested in securing his signature this summer.

This story follows up from a recent report in the Daily Record which claimed that Caixinha is willing to let eight players leave the club during the transfer market as he looks to freshen up the squad.

Halliday featured in 42 matches in all competitions last season, scoring a total of five goals.

The midfielder has made a total of 90 appearances for the Glaswegian club and he was instrumental in guiding them back in the Scottish top flight during the 2015-16 campaign.

Halliday’s current contract at Ibrox expires in 2020.
