West Ham are set to fight it out with a number of sides in their attempts to sign Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud this summer, according to the Mirror

The newspaper revealed on their website that the Hammers are looking into securing a deal for the 30-year-old, who is reportedly valued at £20million.

The target man has previously vented his frustrations about a lack of first team football under boss Arsene Wenger, as reported in the Times, and it seems that Arsenal’s London rivals are hoping to capitalise on his discontent by offering a move.

However, they will face a battle for the 63-time-capped French international, with French sides Marseille and Lyon having both registered interest in the striker, as reported by France Football and L’Equipe respectively.

The Mirror report that West Ham are “confident” they can match any bid for the proven Premier League goalscorer.

Slaven Bilic’s side are known to be in the market for a front man this summer, with Chelsea’s Michy Batshuyai and Bertrand Traore among the names linked with a move to the London Stadium.

Their current options up front include the currently injured Diafra Sakho and Andy Carroll, while Jonathan Calleri will not be extending his stay after a loan spell at the club.

Their only other recognised centre forward is youngster Ashley Fletcher, although left winger Andre Ayew has been utilised up top by manager Bilic on numerous occasions.

Giroud endured a hit-and-miss last season with the Gunners, making just 17 starts in his 40 appearances across all competitions, scoring 16 goals, including two on the way to FA Cup glory.

In total, the French forward has hit 98 goals and picked up 41 assists in 227 appearances since joining the club from Montpellier back in 2012, and is contracted to the club until 2019.
