Tottenham have rejected the chance to sign Leicester City playmaker Riyad Mahrez but they are keen on signing his teammate Demarai Gray in the summer, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper claims that Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is a huge fan of Gray, 20, but he is unwilling to pay his £22million release clause this summer.

It also reports that Gray is not pleased with the lack of first-team opportunities and he is seriously considering his future at the club but Leicester are unlikely to let him leave for a cheap price.

The Mirror also claims that the Foxes want to keep hold of the England Under-21 international and he could enjoy more minutes on the football pitch next season especially if Mahrez decides to leave the King Power Stadium.

Gray signed for Leicester from Championship side Birmingham City in the 2016 January transfer window and he was mostly used as a substitute in his first season as he helped Leicester to secure their first ever league title.

The winger spent the majority of last season on the sidelines but he still made a total of 40 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals and providing five assists.

The Englishman’s contract with the Foxes expires in the summer of 2020.
