Kruse, 28, is available on a free transfer this summer after his contract with Chinese Super League side Lioaning FC expired in May.
The former Bayer Leverkusen and Melbourne Victory star can play anywhere in the final third but is predominantly a right-winger, and could be brought to Glasgow if Celtic fail to entice Patrick Roberts to Parkhead permanently.
Available for nothing this summer, Kruse could prove to be a bargain for Rodgers as they look to go one better in the Champions League and qualify for the knockout stages.
