Brendan Rodgers has revealed that he wants to complete one more Celtic signing before they begin their season on July 11 with a Champions League qualifier.
Speaking to Celtic TV, as quoted by the Daily Record‘s transfer news blog (June 24, 11.03), former Liverpool boss Rodgers claims that he wants to add another signing to his squad before their 2017-18 curtain-raiser after bringing ex-Aberdeen attacker Jonny Hayes to Parkhead.
“There are two players in particular. Jonny was one and there is another I would hope we can get in,” Rodgers said. “Then I just want to get through the qualifiers with the players who have got us through, knowing they are a year better on.”
Hayes, 29, put pen to paper on a three-year deal with the 48-time Scottish champions, which has seen midfielder Ryan Christie rejoin the Dons on a season-long loan deal.
Celtic have been reportedly interested in a number of players ahead of the summer transfer window, but This Is Futbol chooses the pick of the bunch that could turn out to be Rodgers’ second mystery signing.
