Three Everton academy products that could follow McAleny through the exit

Ronald Koeman could see a mini exodus of his academy products at Everton following the sale of Conor McAleny to League One outfit Fleetwood earlier this week.

Uwe Rosler’s side confirmed the capture of 24-year-old McAleny on their official website, after the forward put pen to paper on three-year deal with the Trawlermen.

Despite scoring 26 goals in 65 games for Everton’s second string, McAleny has managed just three senior Everton appearances and has been subsequently loaned to the likes of Wigan Athletic, Cardiff City and Oxford United.

Koeman decided against extending the contract of the former Toffees youth player, which has seen Fleetwood secure the signature of McAleny on a free transfer.

This Is FutbolĀ believes that a number of Everton youth players who have been on the fringes at Goodison Park may take note from McAleny’s plunge, and also move to clubs in the Football League this summer.
