Grimsby manager Russell Slade has specifically named Nottingham Forest striker Tyler Walker when discussing his summer targets.

The 20-year-old son of club legend Des Walker broke through the Forest academy in March 2015 at the age of just 18.

However, the former England Under-20 international has since spent loan moves lower down the Football League pyramid with each of Burton, Stevenage and Port Vale.

Now, as he enters the final two years of his contract with the Midlands giants it is not yet known where Walker’s future lies, but League Two boss Slade could be interested in taking him to the Cleethorpes-based side after naming him in when talking about his summer plans.

“I’d love a strong, quick, hard-working striker, and the (Nicky) Maynards and the Walkers of this world fall into that bracket – that’s all I’ll say on that for now,” told Slade to the Grimsby Telegraph.

In total Walker has played 22 times for the Nottingham Forest first team, scoring on just two occasions.

Last season the forward was sent out on loan on two occasions with League Two side Stevenage taking him for the first half of the campaign before he joined Port Vale in League One for the second half.

He managed to score on six occasions in 15 matches for both clubs, but with Britt Assombalonga, Zach Clough, Apostolos Vellios and Ben Brereton all in the Nottingham Forest first team he may struggle for first team opportunities upon his return.
