Veteran Maloney is currently available on free transfer with just six days remaining on his current contract with the Tigers.
Caixinha has already spent what is likely to be most of his transfer budget on eight new signings, bringing in Bruno Alves, Fabio Cardoso, Dalcio, Daniel Candeias, Carlos Pena, Ryan Jack, Eduardo Herrera and Alfredo Morelos.
With money tight, free agents could be signed by Caixinha in order to bolster any other areas of the squad he feels need improving and Maloney should be at the top of that list.
