Rangers attacker Joe Garner has completed a transfer to Ipswich Town, it has been confirmed.

The Scottish club confirmed on their official website and Twitter account on Friday evening that the 29-year-old had agreed to join Ipswich for an undisclosed fee, and had put pen-to-paper on a three-year-deal.

The Scottish Sun, meanwhile, claim terms over a seven-figure fee were agreed at £1million, worth £800,000 less than his initial transfer fee to the club.

Garner had only signed for Rangers from Preston North End a year ago, but struggled to make an impact during his brief time in Scotland, and has sealed a swift return to the English Championship.

He scored just seven goals from 31 appearances in the Scottish Premiership last season, while he completed the full 90 minutes of a league game on just nine occasions.

But his frustrating spell at the club has come to an end, and the former Preston striker will seek to pick up where he left in the English second-tier ahead of the new season.

Garner netted 57 goals and supplied 15 assists from 151 appearances in all competitions at Deepdale.

He becomes the latest casualty of the Pedro Caixinha overhaul at Rangers, with the Portuguese chief having triggered a widespread revamp of the first-team squad last month.

Garner follows experienced centre-back duo Clint Hill and Philippe Senderos out of the door at Ibrox, while Caixinha has also moved to add no fewer than five new additions to his squad.
