Brendan Rodgers hasn’t made much of an impact in the transfer market yet this summer, but could take a big step forward with the signing of Crystal Palace goalkeeper Steve Mandanda.
The Sun revealed in an exclusive on Friday evening that the 32-year-old refused to return to pre-season training with the Eagles under new boss Frank de Boer.
It is claimed that the former Marseille goalkeeper feels betrayed by Palace after a disappointing season, and is now looking to force through a move to his former side ahead of the summer transfer window.
However, the cash-rich Ligue 1 giants are unwilling to meet the goalkeeper’s £4million valuation with his £90,000-a-week wages also likely to be a problem for Marseille’s American owner Frank McCourt.
This Is Futbol believes Scottish champions Celtic should steal in and make Mandanda one of their highest-paid players in order to boost the Hoops chances of qualifying for Champions League football after Christmas.
