Celtic will lock horns with three Premier League clubs to scrap for the signature this summer of Manchester City midfielder Fabian Delph, according to the Daily Star.

The newspaper claims that the Scottish treble winners have joined Newcastle United, West Brom and Burnley in the race to sign the City outcast.

The Star report that Delph, 27, is almost certain to be offloaded by the Premier League giants this summer after failing to make an impression since Pep Guardiola took over at Etihad Stadium.

A major clearout has already begun at City and the Leeds academy product, who moved to the Manchester club for £8million in 2015, is reportedly resigned to a summer transfer.

West Brom, Newcastle and Burnley are all looking at making Delph an addition to their squad ahead of the 2017-18 Premier League campaign, while Celtic believe the enforcer can add steel and quality to their central midfield.

The England international moved to City in controversial circumstances two years ago when he quit Aston Villa just days after promising fans that he would stay.

West Brom are eager to hand Delph the chance to return to the Midlands in the wake of captain Darren Fletcher snubbing a new deal in order to head to Stoke.

Newcastle are set to spend big this summer and can be expected to lead a strong pursuit of the England international while Burnley want him to replace Joey Barton, who is facing a long ban for betting offences.

Delph has three years remaining on his City contract but has been a bit-part figure since Guardiola took over as manager last summer.

He has made just 13 appearances for the club this season spread across 515 minutes of action after struggling to earn favour following an injury that sidelined him for three months.
