West Ham close in on Middlesbrough winger Traore

West Ham United are on the verge of completing a deal to sign Middlesbrough winger Adama Traore, according to the Standard.

Twitter account Read West Ham published an image of the print edition of the London newspaper, which claimed that the 21-year-old speed machine held talks with Hammers owner David Sullivan on Friday.

Traore, who was a product of the Barcelona academy, moved to Middlesbrough from Aston Villa only a year ago for a fee of £7million, but he could be set to quit with three years still to run on his contract.

The Spaniard made 31 appearances in all competitions for Middlesbrough last season as they were relegated from the Premier League.

However, the Yorkshire-based club are willing to cash-in on him this summer, and a potential deal with West Ham could see them earn at least a £1million profit.

The report also states that West Ham manager Slaven Bilic is hungry to add players with pace to his ranks in the coming months, and that Traore was up there with the quickest players in the top flight last term.

But with Hammers chief Gold having already discussed a potential move with Traore, the electric winger could be set to finalise a transfer to the London Stadium in the very near future.

Traore is however, still to undergo a medical at the club, and it is not yet clear if personal terms have been agreed.
