Colombian Juan Pablo Gonzalez-Velasco is leaving Tottenham less than a year after joining the club, it was announced on Friday.

Spurs confirmed on their official Twitter account that the attacking midfielder has been released and will leave when his scholarship ends this month as they announced the players who will not return to White Hart Lane next season.

Tottenham confirmed on Friday that they have let a number of their young prospects leave, including midfield enforcer Filip Lesniak, who even played in the first team at the back end of the recently completed season in which they stormed to a second-placed finish.

Velasco has lasted only 10 months at Tottenham after the club confirmed on their official website that he joined from Brentford’s youth academy last August after it officially closed.

The 18-year-old struggled to make an impact at Spurs as he was not only ignored by the first team but also failed to break into the Under-23s development squad.

All eight of his Tottenham appearances came for their Under-18s.

Velasco, who reportedly attracted interest from Burnley, Chelsea, Southampton and Fulham before linking up with the north Londoners, has also been capped by Colombia at Under-17 level.
