Celtic are one of three clubs chasing Tottenham academy sensation Joshua Onomah this summer, according to The Sun.

The newspaper claim that the Scottish club are set to rival Premier League duo Huddersfield and Brighton for the signature of the 20-year-old midfielder, who is rated very highly by Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Onomah played a starring role for the England Under-20 side during their recent World Cup win, a series of impressive displays that have caught the eye of several potential suitors ahead of the new season.

The youngster has proven a valuable first-team squad player under Pochettino over the last two seasons, and was handed 12 appearances in all competitions last term, where he contributed one goal.

However, Onomah could struggle to compete alongside the likes of senior duo Victor Wanyama and Mousa Dembele for a regular starting role in the Tottenham midfield, and could be allowed to leave on loan this summer.

If Pochettino were to make his young star available, Celtic, Huddersfield and Brighton are each understood to be ready to offer him valuable top-flight experience.

Both Huddersfield and Brighton are looking to add quality reinforcements to their ranks this summer ahead of their upcoming Premier League campaigns, and Onomah could be handed valuable experience in the competition.

Brighton manager Chris Hughton, in particular, will be looking to make the most of his connections with his former club to pip their rivals to the signature of the versatile midfielder.

However, Celtic would be able to offer Champions League football, should they progress through the qualifying rounds of the competition this summer.

Nevertheless, Pochettino will want assurances that his prized academy star will be handed regular opportunities if he were to open the door to a loan move in the coming months.
