Tottenham are interested in signing Monaco sensation Thomas Lemar but face multiple hurdles in pushing through the deal, according to Football London.

The sports site claim that the Premier League giants will persist with their youthful transfer model this summer as they aim to recruit rising stars rather than established performers.

Football London report that Monaco attacking midfielder Lemar is one player Spurs are keen to sign but a deal will not be easy as there is intense competition for his signature and the French champions have recently sold winger Bernardo Silva to Manchester City for £43million.

The French newspaper L’Equipe report that Spurs have joined European big guns Juventus and Atletico Madrid in preparing offers for left-sided ace Lemar, 21.

It is said that the north London outfit have been in contact with the representatives of Lemar and made it clear they are keen to use their sizeable summer budget to land a player who has lit up Europe this season.

The two-times France international has been a key player for a Monaco side that won the Ligue 1 title on the back of their dazzling attacking displays and defied the odds to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Lemar scored 14 goals and supplied 17 assists in 55 matches in all competitions, with two goals and five assists coming during the French club’s memorable Champions League run.

It has been widely reported that Tottenham were blown away by Lemar’s performances against them in the group stages of the competition before Christmas.

He scored in both matches against Mauricio Pochettino’s side and was similarly productive as Monaco knocked Manchester City out of the Champions League at the knockout stage.

Football London report that any big signing by Spurs this summer will be on youngsters in the mould of Lemar rather than older players like 2016-17 flop Moussa Sissoko, who failed to live up to his £30million transfer fee.
