Tottenham are preparing to table an official bid for Monaco sensation Thomas Lemar, according to L’Equipe.

The French sports newspaper claim Spurs are ready to make a formal move for the wide man as they attempt to blow bitter rivals Arsenal out of the water.

The print edition of L’Equipe on Thursday (29 June), later uploaded on its website, report that Arsenal’s offer on the table for Lemar is higher than stated by the English media, with the Telegraph reporting on Wednesday it was around £30million.

L’Equipe claim Arsenal’s offer for the 21-year-old was £36million including bonuses as they attempt to prise one of the star men of Monaco’s remarkable 2016-17 season to Emirates Stadium.

Lemar scored 14 goals and supplied 17 assists from 55 matches in all competitions as Monaco stormed to the French title and upset the established order by progressing to the Champions League semi-finals.

His pedigree was seemingly noted in north London, with Tottenham on the receiving end in the Champions League group stages when Lemar scored in both the home and away fixtures.

The French newspaper L’Equipe reported earlier this month that Spurs had joined European big guns Juventus and Atletico Madrid in preparing offers for left-sided ace Lemar and held preliminary talks with his representatives.

It now appears that Mauricio Pochettino’s side are ready to take their interest to a new level during what has been a quiet start to the window for the team who finished second in the Premier League last season.

Lemar recently took his Monaco form into the international arena with an impressive display on his third appearance for France in their thrilling 3-2 friendly win against England.
