Tottenham are set for a three-way battle for the signature of Monaco defender Djibril Sidibe, according to a report in The Daily Star.

The 24-year old has the ability to play right or left back, making him extremely appealing to Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester City.

Sidibe played a major role in Monaco’s impressive 2016/17 season, which saw the French side leap to the top of Ligue 1, eight points clear of second place Paris Saint-Germain.

Monaco also made it to the semi-finals of the Champions League with Sidibe’s help in defence.

Sidibe stuck to the right-back position after he moved from Lille, and he made 26 appearances for his side in Ligue 1, scoring two goals.

Although he impressed over the course of the season, The Daily Star reports that Monaco are prepared to listen to offers for the star, meaning he could be making his way to the Premier League this summer.

The defender is particularly appealing to Tottenham, with manager Mauricio Pochettino preparing to upgrade his squad’s defence should Kyle Walker leave in the summer.

The Daily Star say Walker has been heavily linked with Man City this summer, with a price tag of £40million.

Although Kieran Trippier would be a natural replacement for Walker, the North London side would be looking to strengthen, with Sidibe’s diversity on the pitch making him a good fit.
