Tottenham have reportedly made an approach for Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho – but fans don’t want him to sign.

Fan site Vital Spurs claimed on Thursday that the Premier League giants had submitted an enquiry to Liverpool as to the availability of the 27-year-old centre-back this summer.

Mauricio Pochettino is considering his options in the transfer market this summer, with a move for a new defender heavily speculated by the media, despite their impressive defensive record last season.

Tottenham conceded just 26 goals in the Premier League during the 2016-17 season, but Pochettino could pursue a deal for Sakho to add further cover and keep another quality option up his sleeve.

But Spurs fans are not convinced over a potential deal for the out-of-favour France international, who spent the second-half of last season on loan at Crystal Palace.

The Express report that Liverpool are demanding as much as £30million for his services, but that the staggering fee has failed to deter Tottenham from their pursuit.

Sakho had been frozen out of the first-team setup at Anfield by manager Jurgen Klopp, but the defender offered hope of redemption with an impressive display on loan at Palace last term.

The former Paris Saint-Germain defender eight appearances for the Eagles in the Premier League, and was an instrumental figure as they successfully avoided relegation.

But the defender faces an uncertain future on his return to Merseyside ahead of next season, and could be offloaded in the upcoming transfer window.
