Perry Suckling has left his job as QPR academy boss to return to Tottenham in a coaching capacity, it was announced on Thursday.

Spurs revealed on their official website that ex-goalkeeper Suckling, 51, is one of two new appointments to their academy coaching staff along with former midfielder Wayne Burnett, 45.

Former Crystal Palace keeper Suckling originally joined Tottenham in 2000 following the end of his playing career and left in 2015 to run the QPR academy but he has now returned to fill two roles, academy coach and academy goalkeeping coach.

Burnett will manage Spurs’ Under-23s team next season as he takes on the role that has been vacant following the death of former England international Ugo Ehiogu in April.

He has extensive experience as a league manager and youth coach after a playing career that included spells at Leyton Orient, Blackburn Rovers, Plymouth Argyle, Bolton Wanderers, Huddersfield Town and Grimsby Town.

Burnett’s most recent managerial post at Dagenham & Redbridge ended in December 2015 and he has subsequently worked as a national coach developer at the Football Association.
