OPINION

Mauricio Pochettino should abandon plans to sign Barcelona youngster Carlos Alena this summer and look to bring three other La Masia products to Tottenham.

Spanish newspaper AS claim Spurs are interested in making a £2.6million offer for the 19-year-old Barcelona sensation, with his contract clause allowing him to leave for a bargain price.

However, it is believed that the north London outfit can only strike such a deal before July 1, after which his clause would increase dramatically to £10.5million.

With 12 months left on his contract, Spurs must act quickly if they are to sign the Spain Under-19 international on the cheap this summer – and he would be a bargain.

However, realistically, This Is Futbol believes Spurs have left it too late to sign Alena with only four days remaining before his clause increases and should target three other Barcelona youngsters under the age of 23 instead.
