Tottenham striker Harry Kane has revealed that he wants to improve his goalscoring record for England.

The 23-year-old will be hoping to take to the field on Saturday when Gareth Southgate’s side take on Scotland at Hampden in a crucial World Cup qualifier.

Kane recently ended the Premier League campaign by winning the Golden Boot award on the last day of the season after he struck an impressive seven goals during his last two league matches.

As a result, Kane found the back of the net on 29 occasions from his 30 league games with Mauricio Pochettino’s team finishing the season as runners-up to champions Chelsea.

On the international stage, Kane has scored five goals in 17 matches for his home country as he was eager to add to that record ahead of the Scotland match.

“I want to get back playing, hopefully, get back scoring,” said Kane, as quoted by the London Evening Standard.

“If I score maybe a hat-trick at the weekend and a couple in the next game, the ratio might not look so bad. As a striker, you can always change that. Five in 17 isn’t a terrible record but it is something I want to improve. Hopefully, that can start at the weekend.”

Following their trip to Scotland, Southgate’s team will then travel to France for an international friendly before concluding the season.

If they qualify for the tournament, it is highly likely that Kane will be part of Southgate’s squad that travels to Russia for the 2018 World Cup.

At Euro 2016, Kane struggled to score a single goal for his team as Roy Hodgson’s men were knocked out by minnows Iceland.

There is no doubt that the Spurs academy product will be looking to put that record right next summer.
