Christophe Berra believes Tottenham striker Harry Kane showed during England’s 2-2 draw against Scotland on Saturday why he is a top player.

The 32-year-old stated that Kane had not done much all game but when he was given the opportunity to score the Spurs man punished the opposition.

Gareth Southgate’s side were involved in a thrilling World Cup qualifier at Hampden, which saw Kane score a stoppage-time goal.

Prior to the England captain finding the back of the net, substitute Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain had opened the scoring in the second half before Leigh Griffiths scored two spectacular free-kicks to give his team the lead.

After the match, Berra offered his thoughts on Kane as the Scotland defender was full of praise for the 23-year-old forward.

“I don’t think he had done much all game actually, he had a header in the second half but that’s why he is a top player he gets half a chance and a great finish,” Berra told BBC Sports.

During his international career, Kane has represented England on 18 occasions where he has found the back of the net six times added with his two assists.

He recently claimed the Golden Boot award for the second season running after scoring 29 Premier League goals during his 30 matches.

England currently top Group F as they are edging closer to booking their place at next summer’s World Cup in Russia.

Kane has already had the experience of playing in a major tournament when he was part of the England squad that were knocked out by Iceland at Euro 2016.
