Alex McLeish has stated that Tottenham ace Harry Kane reminds him of the club’s iconic forward Martin Chivers.

The legendary London figure played at White Hart Lane for an eight-year period during the 1960’s and 70’s, winning the UEFA Cup during his time at the club.

England international Kane has come through the ranks at Tottenham, winning the Premier League’s Golden Boot award for two seasons running.

Former Rangers boss McLeish was full of praise for Kane and his teammate Dele Alli as the duo could come up against Scotland later on this month.

“Kane is an absolute monster of a player. Fantastic,” said McLeish, as quoted by the Daily Record. “He reminds me of Martin Chivers, from the old black-and-white telly days. A big strong English centre-forward. He fits that kind of bill –skilful, powerful runner, he’s just about got the lot.

“We’ve got to stop him but there are others too. I’ve seen a lot of the teams in London this season and Dele Alli’s been the most creative player in the league so there’s a huge attacking threat that Scotland will need to stop.”

Both Kane and Alli have been named in Gareth Southgate’s squad that will travel up north to Hampden on June 10 for a crucial World Cup qualifier.

Thereafter, Southgate’s team will then travel to France for an international friendly, which will officially conclude the season for the Spurs duo.

Over the course of the season, Kane struck 29 league goals from his 30 matches, four more than his nearest rival Romelu Lukaku.

Added with that, attacking midfielder Alli, who won the PFA’s Young Player of the Year award, found the back of the net on 18 occasions in the league.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side finished their Premier League campaign by securing the runners-up spot behind champions Chelsea.

Added to that, they failed to suffer a single defeat during their final season at White Hart Lane, with Kane scoring the winning goal against Manchester United during their farewell match.
