German Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach are interested in signing Tottenham attacker Vincent Janssen, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper claim that Die Borussen are ready to splash the cash this summer on attacking reinforcements, and are looking to end Janssen’s nightmare spell in the Premier League.

Janssen moved to Tottenham in a £17million deal last summer but has failed to live up to expectation, struggling both for regular first-team opportunities and in front of goal.

The 22-year-old hit the back of the net just twice from his 27 league appearances, adding only a further four goals from his 11 appearances in their remaining domestic and European cup fixtures.

The 13-time Holland international is still under contract for another three years, but Tottenham could seriously consider cutting their losses on the centre-forward this summer.

Borussia Monchengladbach have plenty cash reserves following the combined £44million sales of star duo Granit Xhaka and Mahmoud Dahoud, and are in the market for a new goalscorer.

Lars Stindl was the top goalscorer for the German club last season with 18 goals in all competitions, but manager Dieter Hecking has few reliable alternatives up his sleeve.

However, with Stindl operating as a secondary striker, Janssen would earn regular opportunities to lead the line for Gladbach next term, something he has struggled to achieve at Tottenham.

The incredible form of lead striker Harry Kane at the Premier League club means Janssen will likely continue to be restricted to his deputy goalscorer role for the foreseeable future.
