Tottenham forward Vincent Janssen scored for Holland in their 5-0 demolition of the Ivory Coast on Sunday night – and Spurs fans on Twitter were excited by his display.

The 22-year old scored Holland’s final goal in the 75th minute of their friendly triumph as he continued his fine record in international football.

Janssen was taken off two minutes after his goal in the 77th minute, with team mate Bas Dost taking his spot on the pitch.

The Holland international was called up to play for his country back in March 2016, and with Sunday’s goal added to his international scoring tally, it now stands at six goals in twelve caps for his country.

Janssen faced a tough season at second place Tottenham last season, only managing to score twice in the Premier League despite making 27 appearances.

Despite only making the move to White Hart Lane last summer for nearly £18million, his struggles have been met with the uncertainty of his future at the club according to a report in De Telegraaf.

He revealed to the Dutch media that he found it hard at Spurs to make way for Golden Boot star Harry Kane.

“As a young player I had to compete with Harry Kane – the top scorer of the Premier League – arguably the toughest league in the world, and a striker who is performing remains in the team.”

Teammate Harry Kane is head and shoulders above the Dutchman, scoring a staggering 29 goals in 30 Premier League appearances for the North London side.

While it seems that a decision about the Janssen’s future with the club won’t be revealed until his post-season holiday is out of the way, Spurs fans can undoubtedly see his potential during international spells.

Janssen seems more comfortable while playing for his national team, and with Harry Kane’s incredible form looking to continue through to the 2017/18 season it looks like Janssen might have to prepare to play in Kane’s shadow for a little longer.
