Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil believes he is similar to Cristiano Ronaldo when it comes to the amount of hunger they have for success.

The 28-year-old attacker, who played with Ronaldo during their time at Real Madrid, was full of praise for his former teammate.

Portugal international Ronaldo lifted the European Championships last summer with his home country added with his La Liga title this season.

Added with that, he is on the verge of helping Madrid claim back-to-back Champions League trophies as they are set to play Italian giants Juventus in the final on Saturday evening at Cardiff.

Ozil offered his thoughts on one of the world’s best players and what it is like to share a dressing room with the Madrid player.

“His ambition, how hungry for success he is, as a player, you’re always quite similar,” Ozil told the Arsenal player.

“You want to be successful, you want to bring your best and what fascinated me about him was how professional he was. He’d be the first in the dressing room and the last to leave.

“He’s a grounded guy who is very ambitious, who always gives his best for himself and for the team. What I admired about him was how hungry for success he is.”

German international Ozil made a big-money switch to the Emirates Stadium in 2013 when Arsenal paid over £30million for his services to Madrid.

Since his time at the club, the playmaker has gone on to help the Gunners win three FA Cup’s, but he has failed to help his side lift the Premier League title.

Nonetheless, during his time under Arsene Wenger, Ozil has played 161 matches in all competitions, scoring 32 goals and supplying 57 assists.

During the recently concluded league campaign, his team missed out on a top-four finish which means they will be playing Europa League football next season.
