The odds have tumbled in the last 24 hours on West Ham signing Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud this summer.

Ladbrokes have priced the striker, 30, at just 3/1 on Tuesday afternoon to move across London to Stratford, less than a day after the odds were twice as long.

On Monday night, Sky Bet had the Hammers at 6/1 to secure the signature of Giroud before the summer transfer window shuts.

The price has not only narrowed on West Ham landing the France international but also French clubs Marseille and Lyon, who have been backed in to 9/2 and 5/1 from 8/1 and 16/1 respectively.

This comes after a report in the Mirror which claimed that West Ham are plotting a £20million move for Giroud this summer.

Giroud is currently with the France squad that are preparing to face England in a friendly on Tuesday night in Paris, after scoring his nation’s only goal in a 2-1 loss to Sweden on Friday.

The target man has two years remaining on his current contract with Arsene Wenger’s side and could be deemed surplus to requirements after losing his regular starting place in the recently completed domestic season.

Nevertheless, Giroud has demonstrated throughout his five-year spell in English football that he is capable of scoring plenty of goals in the Premier League.

He scored 16 goals from 40 appearances in all competitions in 2016-17 and has an impressive record of 98 goals from 227 matches for Arsenal.

The Hammers seriously lacked a real goal-threat last season with top marksman Andy Carroll ruled out for the majority of the campaign with an injury.

Attacking midfielder Michail Antonio finished as the club’s top goalscorer last season with only nine goals in all competitions.
