This comes after the Scottish Sun reported that the East Midlands club were on the verge of signing the 21-year-old striker.
It was said that Cummings is set to undergo a medical at Forest next week, and that the club did not foresee any issues which would stop the deal going ahead.
The report stated that Forest manager Mark Warburton is a big fan of the player and tried to sign him when he was boss at Rangers.
Cummings was a key player in Hibernian’s promotion push last term, scoring 19 goals in 31 Scottish Championship games, as well as providing six assists.
He was also a top performer in the club’s run to the Scottish Cup semi-finals, bagging four goals in five games.
The 21-year-old broke into Hibs’ senior squad in January 2014, and he has since played 149 league and cup games for the club, which have yielded 71 goals and 23 assists.
