Nottingham Forest have made a bid in excess of £1million for Hibernian ace Jason Cummings, according to Sky Sports Scotland.

The broadcaster made the claim in a message on its official Twitter account.

This comes after the Scottish Sun reported that the East Midlands club were on the verge of signing the 21-year-old striker.

It was said that Cummings is set to undergo a medical at Forest next week, and that the club did not foresee any issues which would stop the deal going ahead.

The report stated that Forest manager Mark Warburton is a big fan of the player and tried to sign him when he was boss at Rangers.

Cummings was a key player in Hibernian’s promotion push last term, scoring 19 goals in 31 Scottish Championship games, as well as providing six assists.

He was also a top performer in the club’s  run to the Scottish Cup semi-finals, bagging four goals in five games.

The 21-year-old broke into Hibs’ senior squad in January 2014, and he has since played 149 league and cup games for the club, which have yielded 71 goals and 23 assists.

Cummings has appeared eight times for Scotland Under-21s, and he has scored three goals, but he is yet to receive a call-up to the senior team.
