Newcastle United goalkeeper Freddie Woodman is keen on a return to Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock for a second loan spell next season, according to the Daily Record.

The British newspaper claims that the 20-year-old goalkeeper enjoyed his loan spell with the club last season and he would like to experience SPL football for at least more year.

The youngster has returned to his parent club and it is understood that although Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez has not yet held meetings over the keeper’s future, a return to Kilmarnock is certainly on the table.

Woodman is unlikely to make a breakthrough into the Newcastle first-team next season as the club are currently searching for an experienced goalkeeper as they prepare for their first season back in the Premier League.

The Englishman moved to Scotland on loan during the January transfer window and became a first-team regular with Kilmarnock, making a total of 15 appearances in all competitions and keeping four clean sheets.

Kilmarnock will be encouraged by the youngster’s recent comments as he expressed his excitement of being able to play in big games in Scotland.

Woodman has just come off the back of winning the Under-20 World Cup with the England national team in South Korea.

The Newcastle keeper played an essential role in the triumph especially in the final where he saved a second-half penalty to help England secure a 1-0 victory over Venezuela.

Woodman’s contract at St James’ Park expires in the summer of 2020.
