Josh Harrop will join Preston North End when his Manchester United contract runs out on July 2, it has been confirmed.

The 21-year-old midfielder has put pen-to-paper on a four-year contract at Preston, and the sides have come to a “significant” undisclosed compensation agreement.

Preston announced the news on their official website and on their official Twitter account on Friday afternoon.

It is said Harrop was offered a new deal by United, but he instead opted for a move to Preston where first team football will be easier to come by.

The 21-year-old attacking midfielder was United’s reserve team’s top scorer last term, as he finished with 10 goals from 25 appearances, as reported by manutd.com.

Harrop broke into the Under-23s set up at the Red Devils in the summer of 2014, and he went on to represent the youth outfit 55 times.

He will always be remembered by the Old Trafford faithful for his goal, on debut, against Crystal Palace on the final day of last season.

Harrop is primarily an attacking midfielder, but he is also comfortable on the right-side of midfield and playing in-behind the striker.

The 21-year-old has also been capped by England Under-20s on three occasions, but he has not featured for the side since late 2014.
