Everton are looking to raid Premier League rivals Manchester United for the signature of young goalkeeper Dean Henderson, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper claim that contract talks have stalled between the 20-year-old and Old Trafford chiefs, and that Everton and West Brom have been alerted to the situation.

Henderson, 20, joined the Manchester United academy six years ago, but has yet to make his senior debut for the Premier League giants.

However, despite failing to appear on the pitch, the youngster has had a minor role to play in the first-team squad in recent seasons, earning a place in the matchday squad during United’s FA Cup win over Blackburn in February.

The club are keen to tie him down to a new long-term deal, but contract talks have stalled as Henderson is fearful over his lack of regular opportunities and holds concerns over his future role in the side.

David De Gea has been the undisputed No.1 at Old Trafford for a number of years, and his presence in the side has made it difficult for their academy goalkeepers to make an impact.

As a result, Henderson spent valuable time last season on loan at League Two outfit Grimsby Town, where he kept four clean sheets from seven appearances, before he was recalled to his parent club.

Henderson is out of contract at the end of the month, but was confirmed on Manchester United’s retained list, which was released on the Premier League’s official website last week.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman, meanwhile, may be planning ahead for the eventual departure of current first-teamer Maarten Stekelenburg, who turns 35 in September.

Former Atletico Madrid academy star Joel Robles, 26, is Koeman’s second current first-team goalkeeping option.
